The purpose of "backflush" is relieving inventory for the standard BOM quantity consumed in a production booking. Production booking should only be reversed (minus) if a production booking was incorrectly stated, thus never technically using the BOM items. In addition, because BOM is not always accurate to actual quantity, cycle counting is necessary to a certain degree based upon key materials (ABC). If your concern is scrap, you will need to review any relevant scrap procedures in conjunction with your BOM, and what operation contains the items you want to scrap. Remember, S21 allows scrap booking at a non count point where production booking does not. -----Original Message----- From: Mona Ferriols [mailto:mon.ferriols@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2003 4:26 AM To: Jbausers-L (E-mail) Subject: [SYSTEM21] consumable components Is anyone out there using backflush? How do you treat BOM items like chemicals when doing minus backflush? Meaning, since chemicals cannot be reused, they should not be returned to the issuing stockroom when goods are minus backflushed, and once these are backflushed again, fresh stocks should be used. Please help. Thanks. Mon Ferriols Data Management and Control Ionics EMS, Inc.
