Go to www.Fast400.net. I have heard good things about it but have no
personal experience.

I think we all agreed that you will need Performance Monitor to get
WRKSYSACT...
Have not heard of FAST/400...

Thanks all...

Yes I recall folks talking about WRKSYSACT in an earlier discussion on
compiling interactively. I'm still in the process of obtaining that command
(no duals here). Hopefully it's available as part of software subscription.

Speaking of govenors, anyone using or familiar with FAST/400?

Alan

Instead of using WRKACTJOB, use WRKSYSACT (Work System Activity) which will
show all jobs.

You should notice a job called CFINT01 taking up a *lot* of CPU time when
this happens. Normally, CFINT01 takes up minimal CPU time, 1.3 or so, but
when the governor kicks in it eats up tremendous amounts of CPU time, I've
seen it up to like 87% CPU.

Understand, all CFINT01 is doing at those times is wasting CPU cycles so you
can't use 'em. This is the dreaded "governor".

Jim Langston

Any chance this is one of those iSeries with the 'guvner' on it? If you go
over the workload you purchased from IBM, artificial jobs kick in and drive
the CPU up to 100%. Grrrr!
