Thanks for all the responses, it seems as though our assumptions were correct. Manufacturing of backflush materials just does not do the validation of inventory levels. (As stated earlier, not a good situation.) To answer Ray's questions... 1) where did you get them from? Very good question. Our production floor sometimes may not communicate with other areas. Material that was put on hold and physically released but not released in the system, cycle count off, ect. can cause the available quantity to be less than booking quantity. 2) Is this a case of parts moved to Floor Stock or to the production line without the transaction being posted to the system? No we use Nutech to front this transaction and they must have the pick ticket before the product moves to the production area. Thanks again to everyone. Maybe this is one for the next GEAC survey?
