Great answer Steven...

I nearly forgot all about the Redbook...

The Redbook Steven mentioned is/was a cooperative effort of several very
talented and experienced JBA System/21 technical consultants and included
contributions from users as well... It was started just before the Geac buy-out
and was completed just in time to be published by IBM with the Geac name... It
is an excellent tool, professionally produced in the familiar and high quality
style of the IBM Redbook...

This is an invaluable resource tool from which you can learn a great deal. The
size may be overwhelming at first but it is searchable and well indexed...
There is something for everyone in there from beginner to expert...

Well worth the time and effort to review...

If you're new to JBA System 21, you'll find the IBM Redbook 'GEAC System
21Implementation for AS/400' invaluable. Refering to your question
directly, appendix C tells you about all the little routines you should be
running, and when. Grab yourself a copy at

http://publib-b.boulder.ibm.com/Redbooks.nsf/RedbookAbstracts/sg245967.html?Open

If that convoluted link doesn't work, do a search at

I understand there are a number of files in JBA that need to be
cleaned/cleared/reorganized on a regular basis. I wrote a quick
query on the files in the OSL file library and saw that by reorganizing
these files we would retrieve roughly 2.4gb of disk space
(yes, gigabytes).

I tried searching the archives but didn't know what to look for (although
found references to DISKTOOLS and HOUSEKEEPING). Anyone
have a list of files/routines that should be done on a periodic basis to
clean up disk space/speed up operations?

Thanks in advance, I'm new to JBA.

Regards,
