I'm delighted to see so many responses to this question... I only discovered the Operations Navigator 'drag-&-drop' capability earlier this year... It seems like that's the most popular option... I like to use that one too, it really is easy and it gives you a fairly accurate translation of the report... By that I mean it is almost a WYSIWYG translation especially if you save it as *.txt... Some other methods leave something to be desired in terms of keeping the spacing intact etc... We also use another comercial tool from Tangent Group called SurPass... With this tool you can point and click to download reports from the PC-connected AS/400 and then it allows you to create what they call a 'MASK' for that report... You can eliminate whatever you want from the report, format columns etc... Save the mask and use it over and over again for the same report... Then you translate the downloaded report through the MASK into Excel or a wide variety of other supported PC-based applications... It's easy to use and relatively inexpensive for tools of this nature... All of the solutions mentioned so far require a manual intervention process... What I really want to figure out is how I can automate the e-mailing of reports from my AS/400 via my Notes or SMTP server... Now that would be slick... I've looked at SPLTOOL from Bradley V. Stone and we bought a copy but I couldn't get any tech support from him to get that working... It's Shareware and I can only imagine he's made a pretty penny hawking it but the lack of tech support is annoying to say the least... This is obviously a function that many people have a need for and I'm glad the question came up...
