Key checks on AP are: PLP06 (balance file) PLP07 (prime currency balance file) PLP15 (transaction file) PLP10 (period balance file) PLP11 (prime currency period balance file) (Files for AR are the same, except that they're SLP..) All of these files contain balance fields, some just in base, others showing prime balance also. You need to run a query over each of these to a summary output file giving one record per customer. Queries cross-checking these files will then highlight discrepancies in balance calculations between these files. As I said, we regularly encounter differences, which are easy to fix once you don't let them build up on you. Dumb users turning off PC's during cash allocations, for example, caused a few problems here, as did 3 power cuts one day during our busiest season.
