Assuming you're client is running MS Windows...

I've never tried it specifically with an AS/400 emulation package, but it
stands to reason that you could use Visual Basic to set the application
window's properties.   Windows programs all use the same basic "window"
object model which has properties that can be manipulated fairly simply.   I
can't remember what the specific property is that controls the close button
(X), but if you are interested, let me know and I can try to find out or
provide more info.

Also, you may be able to find some "Window manipulation" shareware/freeware
utilities for download.
