In advanced order entry, on the line item entry screen there is an option 5 - Reserve. You put it on the line you are going to reserve and it takes you to the Reserve Stock Against Supply Orders screen. This will list all of the open work orders or purchase orders. You can reserve against one of them. Once you have a reservation the inquiry screens with show the order type as "RS". In the purchasing and production systems there will be an added program function key displayed on those PO's or WO's that have reservations. Two things......The only way this order gets allocated and a pick note is printed is when a receipt is processed against your reservation order. Two, you need to have the configurator module last time I knew. There is a back ground job on 13/CNU that must be started in order for the Order/Inventory/Production modules to talk to each other. As far as documentation, there is very little on how everything functions together. We found some in Order entry and Production manuals. Mostly we tested, tested, tested. -----Original Message----- From: Mark Faulhaber [SMTP:mfaulhaber@griffinind.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 30, 2000 2:02 PM To: JBAUSERS-L@midrange.com Subject: back to back Shipments (AKA direct shipments) At the Financial User's Group meeting, I was told that we should consider using direct shipping (aka back to back shipping) for situations where we buy an item and then have it shipped directly to our customer without going through our inventory. I've searched the 3.5.1 online documentation and all I can find is where to turn on the Reservation Monitor. The docs say that it handles the back-end processing for direct shipments. What I need is to know how to actually do a back to back shipment. Can anyone point me to the relevant documentation? Mark A.
