Stu's suggestions are all good ones and I would encourage you to use all of them... Also, if you have been running AMDAYEND each night then you will have many members (one for each day) in a file called "APG02ARC - Application Function Allocation Archive File"... Using the following command and menu option choices you can access, review, and even delete these archived members which contain archived records from APG02PHY of all jobs run within JBA for the stated time period... This file can grow quite large if not monitored... STRIPGAM - (or STRM400 and option 5. Application Manager) 5. Operational Inquiries 2. Active Jobs 3. Flexible Inquiry Should present you with the following sample screen of data... Archive Creation Access Date Date Opt Member Date Path No of entries From To X000327 3/27/00 125 03/26/00 03/27/00 X000328 3/28/00 3,173 03/27/00 03/28/00 X000329 3/29/00 3,664 03/28/00 03/29/00 X000330 3/30/00 2,909 03/29/00 03/30/00 I also have seen a final rough draft of the IBM Redbook on GEAC/System 21 that is due to be published in August... There is a fairly comprehensive section in that book covering archiving... This was one of the chapter topics that I submitted when I was asked to submit ideas for the book... JBA is unfortunately not strong suited when it comes to purging and archiving data files... As with most applications the file housekeeping is like the documentation - an afterthought... And in this case both the functionality and the documentation are woefully inadequate... I also have a technical document that was written by the Novi office (Dave Barry & friends) that has some references to file housekeeping that may be helpful... Good luck... The "operations guide" is pretty good (now available on the JBA Offline CD), as is the normal paper manual. These together should broadly give you what you need. As far as system manager files are concerned, add the following commands to your dayend: Application Manager dayend CALL PGM(IPGAMP4/XA803CLP) Common Functions dayend CALL PGM(IPGCFP4/ICF706CL) Clear Management History CLRMNGHST KEEP(7) Clear MM Error Log CLRPFM (IPGCFF4/APG99PHY) Clear CF Error Log CLRPFM (IPGCFF4/ICF98PHY) Clear MM Log CLRMNGLOG KEEP(7) Clean User Allocations CLNUSRALC All once a week, except CLNUSRALC (i'd recommend running this at least once a day, as JBA options don't seem to release licences properly [one way to make money i suppose]). This should cut down on the amount of stuff you're storing, although most are purge rather that archive.
