Hi to the List. THis is a continuation of the explanation on Jacada, this time focused on the relationship between Explorer and the Jacada Java client. Some discussions will also be made about Active Enterprise and the developments surrounding it's deployment in the Java world. The Jacada Java UI provided for System 21 is hosted within the client browser, in that it makes use of the browser caching facilities and provides the best performance of all our UI deployments. It is currently delivered with a role based task launcher that uses the same security files as the System 21 Explorer product. In the labs we are developing a Java based version of the Action List and Action Tracker functions. We have also had a request for a comparable product to document viewer but have yet to start that work. The bits of Explorer that would not be included in the new development are the proprietary emulator and the Windows centric presentation. Active Enterprise developments are nearing completion which include two way interactive email, ie the ability to define a process and generate an email as today. The difference is that the work management engine will hold the process, wait for a response on the email, then initiate the process again. THis will form the basis of collaborative processing moving forward. It will certainly provide for extension of the reach of Active Enterprise past the company boundaries. This is a July 2000 deliverable. It is planned to extend this capability through inclusion of task launching from the email as well. As the rest of Explorer is put into maintenance mode the development efforts are shifting to the java centric model as we perceive the emergence of the web based activities to be a dominant market trend. So Explorer is being reinvented not terminated. +--- | This is the JBA Software Users Mailing List! | To submit a new message send your mail to JBAUSERS-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to JBAUSERS-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to JBAUSERS-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: doug333@aol.com. +---
