We haven't gone live yet on distribution, but...
We will be using the warehousing module. We also use Advanced Order
Entry and have the program allocate inventory interactively. We have
scheduled ship days for most customes and we modified AOE to use the
scheduled delivery date to be used as scheduled ship date. We have
modified the OE pick note program to run as a scheduled job every 30
minutes with a time fence of one day Mon - Thur and 3 days on Friday.
When using warehousing, the OE Print Pick Notes program simply
"releases" the orders to the warehouse and doesn't actually print
anything. Pick note printing is accomplished using the warehousing Pick
List for Sales function, which we use in a manner that all outstanding
orders will be consolidated by customer. Our strategy is to release the
orders in "waves" every hour or so, printing pick lists for orders
scheduled to ship that day. In the furture, we are planning on adding
an order type field and having different logic for an order designated
as an emergency order.
