Thanks Daniel and Michael for mentioning both IceBreak and ILEastic
independent of each other. ILEastic is carved out of IceBreak and made an
open source project, however without all the enterprise features.

Both will provide everything needed for RPG to be a real player for
providing API’s - and angular is an excellent choice for building your
front end.

I might also suggest IceCap to get you started while you’re in the
transformation process. It simply is 5250 as a service so you are up an
running within a week. You don’t convert- you simply run what you have.
This gives you the time to do the real work. It runs on top of IceBreak so
you have a coherent environment- your 5250 side by side with your new
angular as you progress

Hi All,

I’m looking for a tool to help modernize our IBMi application screens into
a GUI. Our plan is to use AngularJS for the front end, and we need to
convert all IBMi screen programs into APIs, which will be utilized for the
GUI screens. The majority of the subfiles in the IBMi applications
are single-page with data queue approach.

Additionally, the web services for these APIs can either be deployed on the
IBMi (via IWS, HTTP Server with CGI, etc.) or on a separate Windows server
(such as Java Web Services) — either approach will work for us.

If anyone has suggestions for the best tools available in the market to
help convert the IBMi screen programs into APIs, I would appreciate your
input.
Regards,
Suren
