Hello Jim,

i always used (when no setll) that READ would start at the beginning of an
non-keyed file.
Has the OP (or any others) any evidence this is not true?

I had some surprising experiences with applications staying activated and hence retaining the file pointer between calls. To be on the safe side, I thought it might be easy to just setll to BOF. Problem solved.

Apparently there is no way to set the file pointer in non-keyed files to explicitly BOF or EOF.
