That'll certainly do it. I had that happen a few times at a previous employer before we figured out it was user error - opening/saving the downloaded file.

VALUES DATE(TIMESTAMP_FORMAT('10/9/24', 'MM/DD/RRRR'))

or this:
VALUES DATE(TIMESTAMP_FORMAT('1/9/24', 'MM/DD/RRRR'))

...and you'll get the results you're looking for.
