what is your current process doing now? How many records are transferred,
who collects the data? Using embedded SQL the data will be transferred
record by record. This is very flexible, but not the fastest solution.
Transferring lots of data, sending some import format like csv and using a
load utility to bring this to the database might be faster. The extract
could be done by cpytoimpf, transfer by ftp, load could be done by calling
mysqlimport via ssh on the mysql box. Nomally Ardgate is up and running
within half a day and no java knowhow is needed. You would need some sql
knowhow about distributed sql programming and some knowlege about the sql
dialect of your remote system anyway.
