Yes, the only host variable (ABCDUTENTE) changes before the OPEN.



In this case I can only shoot wild assumptions - DECLARE is no executable
program statement - it is "executed" at compile time.

Maybe it's that - the DECLARE is executed / optimized at compile time,
whereas the SELECT-INTO is executed / optimized at runtime.

Normally I would assume, that all static SQL statements are optimized at
compile time - whereas dynamic SQL is of course only handled at runtime.


I did test the code in ACS and the cost for a single customer is between
0,9 and 1,4 seconds. So 20 minutes for 1.260 customers is "correct".


As I said - wild assumptions - maybe Barbara or Birgitta can clarify that.
