If it's a performance question, the answer always will be : It depends.
Your machine with your workload will behave different to mine.
Rather than think about a single line of code in isolation, consider
using it a 'typical' block of code that you'd be employing in
production. Make A/B variants, and run ten thousand random characters
through them. Context matters when it comes to optimisers!
