Nah - I don't see any real advantage of stateless connections for transactional processing.
All I need is:
on-exit;
exec sql rollback hold;
And everything is done automatically - no hidden clean up, no session tokens, no nonsense - everything explicitly in one place.
If my code crashes or gets terminated before it reached commit - everything is rolled back by the system.
I don't think that HTTP is a bad protocol - but it is intended to transfer "documents" from server to client and back.
