The only way acceptable to any auditors I've worked with is to use the
security journals with the appropriate settings on the collections.

Software you write may agree with the journals, but then in the event they
don't, that's when trouble starts.

Write an extraction from the audit journals to provide your report or
inquiry, but keep the raw data from the journal to backstop any questions.
