Hello Liam

SEP is *Service Entry Point* - I think SBREAK on the green-screen debugger sets it. I suspect you are using this, since you talk about STRSRVJOB, which you do in a new session after setting the break with SBREAK - or maybe using even older techniques.

I find the RDI debugger to be useful enough, and RDI handles using SEPs well enough for my purposes. I do use the green-screen one, also.

If you are on the command line in STRDBG, press F1, and you should see the commands you can enter - look for SBREAK.

Susan Gantner promotes the RDi debugger, yet she also wrote an article - https://www.itjungle.com/2012/10/03/fhg100312-story01/ - on using SEPs in STRDBG.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is SEP?
I’m all green screen and use STRSRVJOB and STRDBG all the time

Service Entry Points are available in all of:

- Green Screen Debugger

- System Debugger (which you were just telling us about)

- RDi debugger

Sadly, VS Code does not (yet) have support for SEPs. Personally I find
the System Debugger so buggy that it isn't usable, and I find RDi slow
and cumbersome. So I typically use the green-screen debugger. I use
SEPs almost every day, and they've been around for ages. I find it odd
that soooo many people in this conversation don't know about them.

The System Debugger is integrated in iACS and completely independent
from RDi - with this you can remotely debug any job.
I don't know if the "service entry point" debugging is RDi exclusive,
but I didn't find it anywhere else until now.

I have a web service & I need to be able to put the job into debug.

I remember that RDi could put a put a like on a program such that when
a
job calls it that job is put into remote debug. I don't have RDi. ☹

Is there a way I can do it without RDi. Maybe VScode?
