Any reason you are explicitly asking about CGI?

I would take a look at ILEastic. One of the many pros for ILEastic is the concept behind it. It is also pretty similar to the concept of Node.js from an API point of view. So any developer with f. e. knowledge in Express.js will hit the ground running using ILEastic.
