Well, the simple answer is to use a dynamic array and then everything will
be automagic. If you actually need the count then %elem of a dynamic array
will give it to you after the %split but DATA-GEN should take care of it
anyway.
If you are not at a release that supports dynamic arrays (you probably are
if you can use %split) then it is possible that %elem(%split ... might work
but of course you have to run it twice.
