Let me suggest, as a start, that you look at the Embedded SQL programming manual at https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ssw_ibm_i_75/pdf/rzajppdf.pdf - it has documentation for several languages and a couple examples in each, including ILE RPG. It should at least have Open/Fetch/Close.
