I've always found it strange the IBM has resisted any updates to theDisplay File spec, or even the 5250 data stream in general.
I'm not. Why? a) IBM started relatively early to heavily push people
towards browser based interfaces. b) 5250 works. c) IBM is all about
backwards compatibility, maybe there was no clean way to expand 5250 data
stream functions without breaking existing hardware terminals. d) Same goes
for DDS, IBM perceives it as "finished" and didn't want to put time (and
thus money) into changes, because a).
Although we can use DSPATR(&FIELD), then load the field is all theattributes you want, and get rid of indicators all together.
