functionality of a sub-file.

They can't be used on a green screen, they don't directly support
scrolling & loading of new data (under program control).

A subfile is a specific concept that is unique to IBM i and has no
direct correlation to web rendering.

IMO, the only thing subfiles & html tables have in common is that they
both display lists of data and you can scroll through the list.
