Re: name of SYSi database.

Actually DB1, DB2 and DB3 were three different projects IBM launched back
in 70'ies to solve the "distributed database" issue.

None of the projects reached their goals, however a side product from the
DB2 project was the birth of the SQL language, and out of that came Db2..

And to day it actually solves the distributed database issue....

I know the S/38 database was not known as DB1, also these utilities
allowed S/38 WRKQRY? to run on AS400
else it was a real pain to convert the S/38 queries.

So perhaps in conclusion the S/38 database was DB1, but not named
explicitly.

Since the database is integrated in the operating system it does not

include a version or any other numbering. The "version" of the database
depends on the IBM i Release
