I'd push back pretty hard on that. Prettified XML isn't needed for any
packaged XML parser...
Requiring it may be an indication of a hand rolled parser whose quarks and
limitations you really don't want to get into making allowances for.
If they simply want a human to look at it, tell them to simply load it up
into notepad++ or some other PC tool and prettify it when they want to look
at it.
