Hello Maria and all other replies,

thank you all for you suggestions but the B-System admins do not allow any direct access to the DB and the way to go has been defined as a web service ....

So glad for any other solutions or examples ...

Subject: Re: simple web service

Hi Sean,
We had a similar situation, meaning our system A (DB2 on POWER9) needs to check some rows state on our system B (SQL Server running a document management system).
Instead of having a web service running on system B, which implies some coding on system B, and being both systems on the same internal net, we resolved to implement ARDGATE software: on system A a relational DB entry is defined and it points to the SQL Server instance on system B, and when it's the case system A performs an SQL select statement to check row' state on system B.

If you think it may be of help I can share other details.

Hello all,

I have two systems hosting order data. When a user want to make a change
to an order on system A he/she must first verify the order state on
system B.

We want to implement a web service to achieve the above so when the
user accesses an order on System A and a request is automatically sent
to system B and the current order state is returned.

System A is an AS400 (DB2) and System B is Windows Box running MS
SQL Server.

Has anybody go a simple example for doing the above ??

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Kind regards / Bien à vous,

Sean Courtney
