So, this is mostly a result of the many moving parts that need to be
properly in place in order for JNI calls to work correctly. Some of it
was self-inflicted by having some artifacts not properly created (I
added code to deal with possible corner cases). Some of it was due to
the way I set the environment variables in the CL.
I appreciated the pointers provided by Barbara because it confirmed the
way to capture more trace details which help me walk the stack trace to
point to the issue. Trial and error helped a bit to (what worked before
changing stuff).
So the code is complete and working. FWIW it is an RPG wrapper around
the Jasper Reports engine (latest version). I'll be pushing up the code
to my Github repo once I have completed the documentation on
installation and use. I have a list of things I'd like to improve but
maybe the community can help with that once it is released an available.
