As for scp vs sftp... Security is the same. (They are both SSH under
the covers.) scp is much easier to use IF you don't need functionality
like renaming, deleting, et al. sftp is more complex, but has that
extra functionality.
I don't see that SFTP really has any (terribly awesome) extra
functionality ..
