LOL... "FTP is a Norwegian Blue pining for the fjords"... I LOVE that :-)

As for scp vs sftp... Security is the same. (They are both SSH under the covers.) scp is much easier to use IF you don't need functionality like renaming, deleting, et al. sftp is more complex, but has that extra functionality.
