The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.

My problem with gathering the performance stats is that the machine is never in a quiet state. Something else could be hammering the machine / DASD / memory during one of the tests and I would be comparing apples and oranges.
I wouldn't worry too much about how quiet the system is. Actual
measurement of *something* is better than just guessing/theorizing.
Run your tests several times. Submit both candidates at the same time
to have them race against each other on separate copies of their own
data, with both of them about equally affected by other jobs on the
system.
