Deliberate on IBM's part perhaps..

But I agree with Barbara Morris in that it's a poor, lazy choice for
developers...

"Using QILE is the worst choice you can make.
There's nothing inherently wrong with QILE, but just because
it's the default, it's often the activation group being used by
sloppily-written applications and programs which might
interfere with your app.
- They might reclaim QILE
- They might issue overrides, or use your overrides
- If they have serious storage corruption issues, they might
interfere with the static storage of your application. "

I prefer MYCOMPANY as the "default" activation group to be used...

Nope - Very deliberate. It is the name selected by IBM as the default
value to be used for the activation group if the programmer did not specify
an alternative. No different to QRPGLESRC or any other IBM selected
default name.

I have a problem where if I call the program from the command line or
from a
CL, the program runs normally. However, when I call it from the order
entry
program, it is failing on the first exfmt. I can respond with a G (go)
and
the program then runs normally.

Respond with D and examine the spool file in QEZDEBUG. For every file,
there's "chapter", also for the DSPF you're using. The real error is found
there. This helps (me) usually.

Activation group = QILE

Aside from your Problem, I read about that QILE was some kind of
misnomer, an Example in IBM documents which got used in production. Your
mileage may vary.
