I also had problems sending mail form t-bird, but they disappear with
the last update.

Thunderbird isn't the problem. Lots of people (myself included) use
t-bird all the time to interact with the lists.

If there is a problem, it's in the mail service OR the way the person
is replying (using gmane.io without being subscribed to the lists, as
an example).
