<Charles>
So why doesn't this?
update mytable
set (col1, col2, col3) = (:myDs);
</Charles>

Hi Charles,

I remember a bug in a programm having select col1, col2, col3 ... and fetch into :ds, it took us some time to find that the list of columns didn't match the sequence of the list of columns. Since this I recommend:
only use
select * from myview
define myds as external ds referencing myview
fetch into :myds

or

select <list of fields>
fetch into <list of fields>

same with row :extds
or set (list of fields) = (list of vars)

mostly I'm using the first variant (that's what views ar made for!!!)
