I believe I know the answer but you folks often surprise me so here
goes:

I have a sortable subfile. Column headings are BLU excepting the
column

chosen for sorting which has a WHT column heading. Columns may be
sorted

ascending or descending.

Whether a column is ascending or descending seems obvious by looking
at
the data but is it reasonable/possible to display up or down arrows?

Don't think so. Depending upon code page, what about x'B0' and x'A5' ?

By the way... There actually are up and down arrows available in
the 3270 datastream world as APL Text characters. But I don't think the
5250 datastream world has the equivalent.

Sincerely,

Dave Clark
