Hi John

Since you're using Scott's POI service program, right? It can do only the things from POI that Scott elected to include.

POI has many other functions that are not yet in the SRVPGM, and you can certainly add what you need to it. Once added, you could share it, to the benefit of all.

It isn't too complicated to add things there - as I recall, all the calls to Java methods are similar in design.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply Don,
My searches aren't turning up that link, if you can, please paste in or
indicate the month in 2016. Thx.

But... This looks like the code i am currently using (found on the list a
few years back) to 'hook-up' a filter to range.

In RPG, i can put a filter on a column range, but when user opens
spreadsheet, the filter values are all selected... there is no
subsetting.

What i want to do is, after hooking up a filter to a range (i can do this
now)

Set the filter to certain values so when user opens sheet they only see
filtered values.

ie: -if- the filter values, when pulled down, are A, B, C, D, E and
(Blanks) [all values selected]
I would like to set the values to A, B, and C. . . thus excluding D, E
and (Blanks).

I am not sure if this is what you are after but I have this from a
previous thread back in 2016 ...

For anyone who was following this thread, the following will
correctly provide all the required entries in hssf_h:

D AUTOFILTER_CLASS...
D c 'org.apache.poi.ss.usermodel-
D .AutoFilter'
D SSAutoFilter...
D S O CLASS(*JAVA
D : AUTOFILTER_CLASS)

D ssSheet_setAutoFilter...
D PR like(SSAutoFilter)
D EXTPROC(*JAVA: SHEET_CLASS
D :'setAutoFilter')
D ref like(CellRangeAddress) const

In the rpg program references as an example:

range = new_cellRangeAddress(0:10:0:4);
ssSheet_setAutoFilter(sheet:range);

The missing piece was provided by a gentleman in England
who figured out that the ssSheet_setAutoFilter needed a reference back
to SSAutofilter using the "like(SSAutoFilter)" as shown.
