This one I can't quite agree with you, James - we have old code here, and some very odd usage of MOVE and maybe MOVEL, which might not have been available at the time some of this was written.

Because it is just too risky to try to change these things, I tend to leave them alone. Maintaining and understanding some of these things just isn't worth the time.

So I find no need for the MOV* variants. I'm with the EVL is best crowd!

And I do think the cycle has its place - and that is NOT in the wastebasket under the kitchen sink!
