The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

I use it when I'm only changing a few fields, up to about six. A little for security, but mostly for conclusive documentation.
Beyond 6, I have to examine why I don't feel safe just updating the record completely.

While there may be some performance advantage, I suspect it's
negligible and would be difficult to measure (remember, IBM i is
designed for database IO).
IMO, the advantage of using this technique would be to protect your
data from inadvertent updates and and make it clear what fields are
being updated.
