Hmm.. I actually like that feature a lot. I think it makes the code
cleaner and easier to read. I've never found it confusing.


I'd *much* rather the compiler give me an error saying the pointer
variable is not defined and make me add it myself. In particular in the
case where the compiler *assumes* that my global pointer variable is not
sufficient and it creates a local (duplicate) pointer variable without
telling me.
