Indeed. Dealing with SOAP web services always leaves an unpleasant taste in my mouth. It also leaves me needing REST.

Seriously, though, SOAP, unless you have a really good set of XML tools available, is not particularly easy to construct, and maddeningly difficult to parse. REST, whether JSON-based or not, is much easier to deal with.
