Is there anyway that IBM could be convinced to update SEU to provide
support for the H, F, & D specs in SEU?

I don't think so. They seem very committed to their position, which is
to leave SEU frozen at 6.1.

They also don't seem willing to budge on providing a reduced-cost,
reduced-feature-set version of RDi. (There was an RFE for this, which
got slam-declined by IBM. If you don't understand what "slam-declined"
means, that's because I made up that term just now. It's meant to
convey something harsher and less respectful than merely "declined".)

Your best option (according to prevailing consensus on the midrange
lists) if you absolutely cannot get RDi is to use one of the low-cost
options from Mihael Schmidt (MiWorkplace) or Liam Allan (ILEditor).
The latter is free and open source. Obviously, neither is as
full-featured as RDi, but they could reasonably be considered "lite"
versions of RDi, which ultimately is what the RFE was asking for. (In
other words, the RFE has *sort of* been delivered, just not by IBM.)
