Brad answered your question...

But why do you do two overlays? If you generate the spool file as AFPDS,
you could assign a different overlay for every page in the single spool
file.

Hello group,

I'm having issues with merging spool files that are being sent to the IFS.

Two AFPDS spool files with overlays are created for our commercial
invoice, a header page and continuation pages. I'm copying them to a
directory as .pdf files.

Here is the command I'm using for each file:

CPYSPLF FILE(spoolfileX) TOFILE(*TOSTMF) +
JOB(12345/xxxxxxx/QPADEV0001) +
SPLNBR(000001) JOBSYSNAME(xxxxxx) +
TOSTMF('/myfolder/splf.PDF') +
WSCST(*PDF) STMFOPT(*NONE) OPNSPLF(*YES)

I run the ftp append command with "namefmt 1".

The files appear to append, the size increases as expected.

The problem is, when I open them in acrobat, I only see the first page.
What am I missing? Should I be using a different command to merge them?

Thank you,
