Bradley asked for this information on the web400 list:
You'll want to provide:

1. Your apache config (or at least the alias and directory
directives/containers)
2. The full path you're using for the request (from the browser/client) 3. The actual qualified path you're using on the request.

The forbidden error normally means your apache config says you don't have the proper permission to that directory.

Also double check the directory has at least *RX authority and any files in the directory have at lest *R for QTMHHTTP and QTMHHTP1 user profiles (or the user profile you may be using in the Apache config if you did that).

The last part covers the iSeries authority.

Subject: RPGLE, web services, json and Forbidden, Forbidden - by rule., ,You
do not have permission to access /states on this server.

(Asked on web400@xxxxxxxxxxxx with no response. Asking here because I
am trying to round-trip demo data) via RPGLE and json using a web service,
not the IFS, and I believe the error has to do with the iSeries authority &
security, not with Apache.)

Using Scott Klement's slide show presentation as a guide, I have added a web
services DIY entry to an existing and functioning Apache server on the
iSeries. This includes adding a ScriptAlias for "/states" and a <Directory>
entry with "Allow from all" to the config file.

The message I am getting is "

Forbidden

Forbidden - by rule.

You do not have permission to access /states on this server."

which I believe is telling me it's there, it all may work, but I am not logged on
to the machine so don't have permission. So... how do I either allow anyone,
or ask for sign-on/password?
