Why not put a monitor in for that error.

If it occurs.. put a delay in, then retry (one time, two times, etc.)

Personally, I would not want a user receiving the OS error with any options if it could be avoided.

If that turns out to be a dead end, you're right. Either a MONITOR block or error extender would be Plan B.

How about encapsulating your read with a MONITOR/ON-ERROR/ENDMON block?
