AM:
I have a UDS defined in a non-cycle program (defined with Main in the
h-specs). On compiling, I notice the warning
RNF7539: Data area dataArea should be unlocked explicitly in a non-
cycle module.
However, if I code an UNLOCK, the message below is issued and the
program will not compile.
RNF7069: The Factor 2 operand dataArea of UNLOCK is not a data area
or an update file.
I did some testing. You're probably missing the DTAARA keyword in
column 40 of the UDS statement. Using the MAIN keyword means that the LDA
(and other data areas) cannot be automatically handled by the RPG program.
Therefore, you must explicitly tell RPG that your UDS is a data area by
specifying the DTAARA keyword on your UDS statement and coding the IN,
OUT, and UNLOCK op codes in your calculations. Using D-specs, there are
about five or six different ways to code a data area definition.
D UDS DTAARA
D SubField0 10A
D UDS DTAARA('MYDTAARA1')
D SubField1 10A
D MYDTAARA2 UDS DTAARA
D SubField2 10A
D dsName3 UDS DTAARA('MYDTAARA3')
D SubField3 10A
D dsVarName4 S 10A INZ('MYDTAARA4')
D dsName4 UDS DTAARA(*var:dsVarName4)
D SubField4 10A
Sincerely,
Dave Clark
