I created my table using:

not null generated always as identity (start with 1 increment by 1 cycle )
for my ID column

And I was able to Update the records both with and without specifying
%Fields() on the UPDATE OPCODE and the ID was left alone.

%FIELDS and ensuring that only the columns you mean to be updated, are.
But I can see why some may not want to.


I agree. If you've got 400 columns and only two generated always
columns, then you don't want to list 398 columns. On the flip side, in
that situation, did all 398 columns really change at all? ;-)
