You found everything that I have seen. I agree - $50 is a reasonable
amount. But it could definitely be clearer from the start. If you start
to download something not free (second utility or MMAIL) it says that
the $50 is good for a year, and if you go over $50 he will extend the
time proportionately. I use an old copy of MMAIL here, and if it ever
came down to needed an update, I could probably get the $50 out of the
company, but I haven't found any issues that I couldn't fix myself. I
also use Scott Klements SMTP4 service program for some things.

Just a note - MMAIL is not free. Giovanni now requires a $50 a year

Huh. Well, that changes things.

I don't think $50 is an unreasonable amount, but it would be nice to
see that
clearly posted somewhere. (I'm not saying it's not posted.
But I haven't been able to find it, and I've been looking for a while
now. And
it does say "Freeware" at the top of the left-side navigation bar on
the page
that I linked to, which is the MMAIL home page.)

What I do see is that MMAIL is the only strictly for-pay utility
offered; there
are a number of others (not just CGIDEV2) that are free, and a bunch
more
that are free for first download.

The donation verbiage makes it sound like a one-time contribution (no
amount specified) is enough to download everything for a certain
amount of
time (again, not specified). And there are discrepancies - some
utilities show
up as "always free" on one page but just "free for first download" on
another
page.
