Sounds cool, Brad.

RTVQMQRY gives us a SELECT, but that is a conversion, to the best of my knowledge. Query/400 itself isn't really - or wasn't really - run as SQL under the covers.

But that is a long time ago, isn't it!

Cheers

You got it, Vern. RTVQMQRT. It was part of my QRY2ERPG product from years
ago to help people learn how to create CGI programs with RPG.

Write a query. Then use QRY2ERPG and it generated a program with source
that you could use as a starter for a web application with RPG. Doesn't
get much more simple than that. :)

Brad, which method are you using to retrieve the query definition? I've
used RTVQMQRY, which does produce a source member with a SELECT statement.

I'm not entirely sure that QUERY/400 is SQL underneath - I think the code
path is different, not the one that SQL uses. But Query and OPNQRYF now do
use the new engine, but only IBM know the details thereto.

Happy Holidays, best to you!

Yep... retrieve a query definition and you get SQL. Pretty slick. :)

Nathan, talking about old days, I think that QUERY always has been SQL
