so, sqlda.var(i).len gives you the CHAR field length... but for the

first

numeric I come to which is 2s0, it has 512 in it.... so where do i get

the

numeric length?

It has to be decoded from the .len field. I gave you a procedure
for doing that. If you need it again let me know and I'll paste it in
here.
